Research Webcast: National Green Building Adoption Index 2014

GBIG Staff
Chris Pyke interviews Nils Kok and Dave Pogue about LEED and ENERGY STAR adoption in 30 U.S. office markets.

The National Green Building Adoption Index (GBAI) is a landmark study which provides an unprecedented view of the dynamics of LEED and ENERGY STAR office space across the United States. The research provides a quantitative view on the pace and scale of green building market transformation with detail for 30 major U.S. markets.  Critically, the study is among the first to quantify the fraction of competitive office real estate actively engaged with green building.

The project was led by Dr. Nils Kok in collaboration with Rogier Hotermans (Maastricht University).  The data was provided by USGBC and CBRE Research, including information on 34,000 buildings covering 3.5 billion square feet. The GBAI is the first published project supported by CBRE’s Real Green Research Challenge. Chris Pyke, USGBC’s VP of Research, recently had a chance to sit down with Nils Kok and Dave Pogue (CBRE) to discuss the findings and implications of this research.
