Washington, D.C. Ranks #1 on Energy Star’s Top Cities List, Again

The U.S. EPA has released its yearly ranking of the top metro areas with the most Energy Star certifications. For the second year in a row, Washington, D.C. topped the list with a record breaking 686 Energy Star certified buildings. Los Angeles once again ranked second, finishing the year with 527 Energy Star certified buildings.

The EPA’s top 10 metro areas for Energy Star in 2015 were:

San Francisco, CA (355)
Atlanta, GA (311)
New York, NY (303)
Chicago, IL (281)
Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (249)
Houston, TX (231)
Denver, CO (215)
Phoenix, AZ (190)

In total, 7095 facilities (including commercial buildings and industrial plants) earned Energy Star certification in 2015, covering more than 1.5 billion square feet.
