GBIG Data: More Than Just LEED

GBIG Staff

Because GBIG is a product of the U.S. Green Building Council, people are often surprised to learn that the platform includes project data on more than just LEED. At this year’s Greenbuild Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C. we repeatedly saw surprised faces when pointing out Energy Star labels or Green Star certifications on GBIG Building Timelines.

In the interest of clarity, GBIG now contains nearly 1.4M observations on 300,000+ buildings, from more than 200 sources, in 182 countries around the world.

GBIG project data is classified into a few primary categories, including Certification Programs (LEED, Energy Star, Green Star, etc), Award Programs (AIA/COTE Top 10, BOMA TOBY, etc), and Energy Benchmarking and Disclosure Programs. GBIG also provides access to 3rd party case studies from more than 50 sources, and highlights buildings for their participation in a variety of green initiatives including 2030 Districts, Campus Conservation Nationals, and NBI’s “Getting to Zero” Net Zero Energy verification report.

A few of our favorite programs are highlighted below, and the full list of covered programs can be found here or through advanced search (under the ‘Certifications & Awards’ search filter).

If you know of a green building initiative that we are not tracking, let us know and we’ll look into adding it to the platform!
